The Best Bars In Tbilisi, Georgia

Having finally visited the fascinating capital of Georgia, I can say without a doubt that Tbilisi is one of my new favorite cities. I also loved the nightlife in Tbilisi! Although I know the city has a great clubbing scene, I’ve heard that during the summer it’s a bit more relaxed. Lots of people head to Batumi on the Black Sea for partying and clubbing in the summer months. While I didn’t get to any clubs, I went to quite a few bars! And thankfully, prices are pretty low in Georgia. You can read all about how much my trip to the Caucasus cost here! So after lots of investigation (all in the name of research for the blog, of course!), here are the best bars in Tbilisi!

1) Amodi

This is one of the best rooftop bars in Tbilisi and with good reason. The views are simply incredible! Located in the Old Town, it can be a bit tricky to find it, especially at night. They do great cocktails, and have a good food menu as well. I only had a few appetizers (the hummus was amazing!) but I’d definitely recommend the food too. It’s not the cheapest on this list by far, but it’s absolutely worth the prices for the location and the views!

2) Chacha Corner

This is technically a shop, focusing on the Georgian liquor chacha that’s made from grapes. However, the owner is so kind and helpful in explaining the different types of chacha, how it’s made, and the industry itself (all in excellent English!), that it earns a spot on this list! You can buy chacha to drink (2 lari a shot), or get a big bottle to take away. Either way, if you want a local experience and to learn about this famous Georgian drink, this place is a must in Tbilisi.

3) Warszawa

Looking for the best cheap drinks in Tbilisi? Look no further than this tiny Polish bar! Warszawa is located right by Freedom Square on a busy street. Despite it’s fantastic location, the drinks are wonderfully cheap. A beer is 3-4 lari, and you can get an excellent shot of watermelon chacha for just 2 lari. The bar is covered in old Polish newspapers, and when it gets full (there’s only a few seats), people tend to congregate outside. Hands down one of the best bars in Tbilisi!

4) Art Café

Not far from Amodi in the Old Town, Art Café is spread out over several different floors. The top two have fantastic rooftop views over Tbilisi, which I highly recommend! It’s a nice place to come for cocktails, and there’s a DJ and a dance floor as well.

5) Fabrika

This massive place is something of a Tbilisi institution: it’s a hostel, it’s a bar, it’s a restaurant, it’s a co-working space, and it’s something of a hipster hub. I stayed here in the hostel (read my full review here!), but it also makes a great bar—especially for cocktails. The lounge is huge, with lots of comfy seating, pretty plants, and low-key vibes. It’s popular with locals, so even if you’re not staying here, try to pop over for a drink!

6) Point Terrasse

This bar is actually a hotel, but earns its spot on this list for it’s stunning rooftop. The 180˚ views are phenomenal—you can see Narikala Fortress on one side, and the Holy Trinity Cathedral way across the river on the other side. Drinks are reasonably priced, and it’s one of the quieter rooftops I found. This is definitely one of the best bars in Tbilisi, yet still something of a secret!

7) Carpe Diem Café

A bit of an artist’s hangout in the Old Town, Carpe Diem Café is a really small place, good for a casual drink. It’s a steep climb up, but with a resident cat and a drinks menu that won’t break the bank, it’s worth it. There are some nice views from here, although none quite as nice as some of the other rooftops!

8) Wine Cellar

I’m not quite sure how to put “some random woman’s basement” on this list, but this was one of my favorite experiences in Tbilisi. The woman doesn’t speak much English (Russian is better), but you can go in for a (very generous) tasting of some of the different types of wines she brews. All her wine is home-brewed, and her basement is really cozy for having a laid back drink with friends. You can buy a liter of wine (we went for one of the whites) for 10 lari. You can either drink it in, or you can take it away with you! Follow the signs on the ground that say “wine” on Mazniashvili street between Davit Aghmashenebli Avenue and Tsinamdzgvrishvili Street (around the corner from Fabrika).

9) Erekle II Street

One of the most popular pedestrian streets for restaurants and bars in Tbilisi is Erekle II Street. The leafy street comes alive in the evening, with twinkling lights that make the perfect Instagram photo. It’s located in the very heart of the Old Town, and is one of the main drags for tourists with good reason. All the restaurants and bars have outdoor seating, so you can get a drink and people watch to your hearts content! I ate at several different places on this street, and you can get drinks at every place. While this isn’t technically a bar, if you’re looking for a good place to relax and chill with drinks, this is a great choice.

10) Davit Aghmashenebeli Avenue

On the opposite side of the river from the Old Town, Davit Aghmahenebeli Avenue is another pedestrian street that is full of restaurants and bars. All of them have outdoor seating, and it’s nice to see where people come to see and be seen! I ate and drank at several places here, and it’s easy to hop between places. It looks beautiful all lit up at night, and you’ll have your choice of bars!

Tbilisi is a fantastic city with so much to see and do. I absolutely loved my time here and already want to go back! These are some of my favorite bars in Tbilisi and I can’t recommend them enough!
