Hostel Review: Oda Hostel, Pristina

After so many years of traveling, I have found that staying in hostels is one of the best ways to cut costs on a trip. You save loads of money on accommodation, and it’s a great way to meet other people as you travel! I visited Pristina, the capital of Kosovo, on my most recent trip to the Balkans. For my three nights in Pristina, I stayed at Oda Hostel. Here is my full review!

Location

Oda Hostel is in a great location. It’s around the corner from a busy main street, Agim Ramadani. It’s also across the street from Skanderberg Square and Nena Tereza Boulevard, the main pedestrian drag. This also meant that it was an excellent location for going to different bars and cafes in the city center! You can also get a local bus from the bus stop across the street that goes direct to the bus station (otherwise it’s a 35-40 minute walk). This was super convenient as I traveled by bus every day I was in Kosovo!

Room

I stayed in a 6-bed dorm room for my three nights at Oda Hostel. The beds were SO comfortable, and had sturdy metal frames. They also had my big three for hostel dorms: individual reading lights, plugs by the bed, and curtains for privacy. I slept so well here! They also had air conditioning in the hostel, which is a must for a trip to Kosovo in the summer months.

Price

I paid €12 per night for my dorm room at Oda Hostel. This is pretty much the exact same price as the other hostels I looked at in Pristina. I think this is excellent value for money—the room wasn’t huge but it’s so comfortable. For everything I got at this hostel, I think this is a very reasonable price.

Bathrooms

There were two main bathrooms upstairs in Oda Hostel, and one toilet downstairs. Despite there only being three of them, I never had any issues waiting for the bathroom. The bathrooms upstairs both have big showers (one had a HUGE shower), which I was a huge fan of! They were cleaned regularly and I have no complaints at all about them.

Staff

There were two main staff members I encountered at Oda Hostel, a woman in the morning and a man in the late afternoon/evening. They were both really nice, and were so helpful in giving advice about buses! (Unfortunately I never got either of their names!) Not only that, but Oda Hostel is home to two very cute cats. I loved playing with the cats when I got back to the hostel! A real highlight of my stay and one very good reason why you should stay here too! 😉

Common Areas

Oda Hostel has a very small, basic kitchen. If you need to use it you can, but I probably wouldn’t recommend cooking all your meals here. They also have a nice common room with comfy couches and a TV. (And of course, plenty of space to play with the cats!) There wasn’t a huge social vibe here, but people hanging out tended to chat to one another.

Amenities

One of the things I liked the most about Oda Hostel was the free breakfast. This was prepared for you, and was a mini little sandwich (ham, cheese, tomato, cucumber), hardboiled egg, and juice. So many hostels just have bread, Nutella, and cornflakes, and so I really appreciated having something a bit more at this hostel! They also had wifi that worked well throughout the entire hostel.

Security

Oda Hostel is right around the corner from a busy street, but it’s still really quiet. I felt very safe here. There is a front door with keycode security, and each room has its own key as well. The lockers in the room were also some of the best I’ve ever seen in a hostel! Each locker had an outlet inside the locker, so you could securely charge stuff overnight or when you’re out for the day!! What a gamechanger!

Verdict: Would I Return?

I would absolutely return to Oda Hostel. It’s a great location, and the rooms are an excellent standard and great value. A good breakfast, cute kittens to play with, and lockers with outlets are just a bonus! This was a fantastic place to stay and I would definitely return to Oda Hostel next time I’m in Pristina. 1. […] I stayed at Oda Hostel in a 6-bed dorm for my three nights in Pristina. I absolutely loved this hostel.
